Madison Avenue runs between Park Avenue and Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. Since the Twenties, it has been the centre of the American advertising industry. The Mad-ison Men were the golden boys of the Sixties who "dreamed up" the images of the iconic brands of the USA. Inspired by this theme De Poortere has created a new collection of "Vintage Sixties" rugs. A mix of straight and broken lines, of dull and shining yarns, of smooth and ragged pencil strokes.Like all the Designer rugs from the world renowned Flemish weavers they are woven on Jaquard looms using the finest raw materials and finished by hand to the most exacting standards. They feature an antiqued appearance and being flatweave have a low pile height making them ideal for placing under tables and chairs and reduces potential trip hazards in heavy use walkways. The edges are hemmed to create a neat finish and the backing of the rug is treated with an antislip coating to minimise movement on the floor. The design Cracks replicates the cracked ice on the surface of the ice rink at Rockefeller Square. Abyss Blue repesents the world below the ocean's surface staring down into the deep blue abyss.
